Do you love a Bloody Mary cocktail?
You just can’t beat a Bloody Mary - or even a virgin Bloody Mary. It’s often the cocktail of choice for brunch or lunch and a Bloody Mary is a favourite go-to after a heavy night as the perfect hangover cure. Whether you prefer your Bloody Mary with or without vodka, read on for our very special Bloody Mary deal and learn more about this versatile, and strangely nutritious, cocktail.
What is a Bloody Mary?
A Bloody Mary is a cocktail made from vodka and tomato juice. A traditional Bloody Mary mixes 2 parts vodka to 4 parts tomato juice and 1 part lemon juice. To this is added Worcestershire sauce, tabasco, salt and pepper - all to taste.
Our very special Bloody Mary offer (includes virgin Bloody Marys!)
We love a Bloody Mary served alongside our Sunday roast - so much so, that our latest special deal means that you can enjoy a Bloody Mary for just £6 when you order our Docklands-famous Sunday lunch. Double yum.
How to make the perfect Bloody Mary
The secret to a fantastic Bloody Mary is in the quality of the tomato juice and your preferred level of spice! An extra drop or two of Worcestershire sauce, the perfect amount of freshly ground black pepper, or more or less tabasco. Our bartenders have got this combination down to a fine art and we know that you will love theflavour hit.
Have you ever added bacon to your Bloody Mary?
We’ve not gone crazy! Some people add bacon to their Bloody Mary - a twist on the traditional British garnish that uses a stick of celery. Even more interesting, is the ‘surf and turf’ option that uses a shrimp and bacon garnish! We hear that in the USA, they also garnish with pickles, olives and cheese cubes… but we’ll leave all that to our American cousins.
Hair of the Dog - the Bloody Mary!
A Bloody Mary is a common "hair of the dog" drink, reputed to cure hangovers with its combination of tomato juice to settle the stomach, salt that replenishes lost electrolytes, and alcohol to relieve head and body aches. Even a virgin Bloody Mary is reputed to work wonders due to the tomato juice and salt alone. We think the tabasco helps too!
