Many moons ago, January was named the “International Brain Teaser Month” in order to promote cognitive fitness at the start of the year. In honour of this, we’re sharing some fun facts about January that you can use to impress your guests.

For example, our calendar didn’t always start with January. It wasn’t until Julius Caesar added the month of July and created the Julian calendar that January became the first month. It was named after Janus, the Roman god of doors, gates, and transitions. Before this, the Anglo Saxons used to call it “Wulfmonath” meaning “wolf month” named after the first full moon of the year, the Wolf moon, that usually appears in January.

Things to do in the Docklands in January

You may not consider a day out in the Docklands at this time of year but there is lots going on.
